Registration

Registration will open in late February and close on Friday 31 July. All colleagues who wish to be included in the conference programme and wish to attend in person need to register and pay in full before attending the conference.

About registration

We welcome attendance and participation from all researchers of Africa and across all disciplines, and all other interested parties.

The delegate registration fee includes access to conference sessions, ‘Grab and Go’ lunch and mid-morning and mid-afternoon refreshments. The fee does not include ‘A Taste of Wales’ lunch. the Conference Dinner or accommodation.

There is no charge to attend the Keynote lecture and reception on Tuesday 8 September. However, registration will be via a separate link and details will be released in due course.

The Conference Dinner will be a 3-course, silver service dinner and will be held on Wednesday 9 September at Cardiff City Hall. The winners of the Fage and Oliver Prize 2020; Audrey Richards Prize and the Distinguished Africanist Award will be announced at the Conference Dinner.

The ‘Taste of Wales’ lunch is a two-course served lunch in Aberdare Hall. This lunchtime option will be available to book when registration opens. Places are limited and are available to pre-book on a first come first served basis.

The ASAUK is offering a limited number of attendance grants for early-career scholar- parents, see below for further details..

The ASAUK Annual General (AGM) meeting will be held on Thursday 10 September. The AGM is open to all conference attendees but only members may vote.

Cancellation of registration fees

If you do need to cancel your conference registration, then please note:

For cancellations made between Monday 3 August and Tuesday 25 August the charge will be 50% of the registration fee.

We cannot give any refunds for cancellations made on or after Wednesday 26 August, during, or after the ASAUK2020 conference.

Please contact the conference organiser by emailing ASAUK2020@cardiff.ac.uk  with an email subject line: Cancellation of registration fees / conference dinner. The conference organiser will then authorize a refund were relevant. If this presents any difficulties, please feel free to get in touch with us to discuss.

Attendance grants for early career scholar-parents

There are 10 grants of up to £200 each available for early career researchers (within a three-year period from the award of their doctorate) who are parents of young children who need financial support to provide childcare during ASAUK 2020 conference.

Bursary funds will be released once candidates have registered for the conference.

Applicants are asked to write short paragraph of no more than 10 lines, explaining what they will use the funds for. Please provide evidence of your early career status.
