ASAUK Response to the US Travel Ban

The African Studies Association of the UK is strongly committed to the production and sharing of knowledge about Africa built on global intellectual exchange and mutually engaged collaboration with scholars from all African countries. We are deeply concerned by the impact of the recent US travel ban for nationals of several Muslim countries, including Libya, Sudan, and Somalia. This and other restrictive visa policies pose a threat to academic freedom and the rigorous and equitable study of Africa. We call for the immediate reversal of the ban and stand in support of international dialogue to remove all barriers to free intellectual exchange.
