Research

Since being recognised as a Learned Society by the British Academy in 2006 the African Studies Association UK has expanded its activities and embarked on research into a number of areas of interest to the Africanist community. Hitherto the Association has run its own conferences and workshops, supported other workshops, and acted as the academic evaluator for the channelling of RAS support to Africanist conferences and workshops in the UK.

Recognition as a learned society has led to the employment of a part-time research administrator who has begun research into areas of key concern for the association with publication of a number of reports due in 2008-09. A Research Committee has been established and will meet on the same date as ASAUK Council meetings.
